Cuffley 1st 67 0 Saracens
Boys, another great performance against what was a poor Saracens side but you can only play what is in front of you. We had a game plan and for the most part we stuck to it and it paid dividends with an 11 try romp and 6 conversions by Crabby. Try's came from forwards and backs with Mick Lavene picking up 2, Ollie crashing over from a five meter scrum and Marc helping himself on the back of another controlled drive towards their try line.
Crabby led the backs with a fine hatrick and with a new backline all moving the ball well and gelling from the kick-off, with three boys on debut all getting on the score sheet. Will Payne's first touch was on the end of a fine move for him to round their defence a nice step and a left hand fend off had him over the line in the corner.
Beau Gamby stepped through the gap for his first try, young Payney went over again for his brace and Matt Deamer put the icing on a fine game with a barnstorming run down the wing for the touchdown. We should have gone on to rack up an even bigger score, but as is the norm with Saracens who for me have a real problem with losing to us, they tried very hard to get the game called off, their coach on the side-line was as always a pain and but for the ref having come across him before and was aware of his antics he may have got his way.
As it was Saracens had had enough with 20 mins to go they started dropping like flies with the ref losing patience blew for time with them well beaten. Saracens turned up short of numbers and in the spirit of the game we gave them 3 players Sid, Elvis and Eric did not have to play for them and it's not easy and as a player your worst nightmare for your coach to ask you to step up, but our boys played and I'm proud of them for that so well done boys, it shows me that we have the right calibre of players at Cuffley to move forward as a club. Nick Serbec failed to help Mick keep the average age up. H
