Ladies Match Reports

Stockwood Park Ladies 25 40 Cuffley Ladies

Cuffley Ladies played their 4th game in this their development season, and kept up their unbeaten record. We travelled to Luton to play a return fixture against Park , having beaten them at home and followed that win up with a demolition of Basildon we were desperate for a competitive match. Park fielded a completely different team and came out of the blocks on fire, they had a much bigger pack and had obviously worked on their backs defensive alignment, with a plan to disrupt our fluency with ball in hand.

Parks pressure told and for the first time Cuffley Ladies found themselves behind in a game when Park scored. Although it's never nice to go behind but this is exactly what we were looking for, so game on. From the restart Park worked their way back into our 22, with our defence working hard we forced a knock on, Parks ploy of rush defence backfired as Sophie Newman picked up at 8 and sprinted down the blindside 90mtrs to score to level the scores.

Rachel Eaves back to the team after illness missed from the conversion from the touchline but her kicking would make a big difference as the game progressed. Cuffley now started to get on top of Park, Jade scored a brilliant try from halfway with a quality sidestep and a sprint to the line. Each added the conversion. Park bounced back with a breakaway score for their scrum half. It was a full on rugby match, Jade got caught at the breakdown but Charlotte Lovett stepped in at fly half and repeated Jades score when she ran in from halfway for another great score, up stepped Rach to add the two points. Sophie added her second try and Rach again added the extra points.

Half Time 10 _ 26 to Cuffley Ladies.

The second half was just as intense ,with both teams really playing well. Cuffley moved the ball well and Rachel broke through to score, again she added the kick for another 7pts. Park again came back at our girl's , we defended stoically close to our line but in the end they forced themselves over the line. They followed this up with another two scores to bring the score to 25 -33 , our girl's never gave up and really worked hard for each other against a good team.

With 10 minutes to go our fitness started to show, we forced Park back into their 22 the pressure was intense, from another flowing move Charlotte Lovett found a hole in the Park line to score our last try, Rachel Eaves stepped up to add another conversation for a fantastic 5 conversions and a try during the match. We don't have the biggest team but our girl's punch well above their weight and never give up .
